1: With the information you provide, we model the home's energy usage, evaluating the energy consumption by component, providing a Projected HERS Score. The local building official uses the Projected HERS certificate to confirm the project meets the stretch building code  your building permit. We can collaborate with your architect and/or builder to provide recommendations on how to enhance the building's energy efficiency.

2. A critical step in our energy rating service is to confirm that the construction and installation are the same as the plans we modeled. We conduct three site visits during the construction phase and update the HERS rating to reflect "as built".

     -  The First on-site visit is during the foundation stage to document the insulation and depths of the basement/crawlspace/slab.

   -    The Second on-site visit is during the "pre-drywall" phase to document the insulation in HVAC installation. We will conduct a duct leakage test at this point, allowing for corrective sealing to take place if necessary.

   -   The Third on-site visit is done post-construction, where we conduct a blower door test to evaluate the total leakage of the house.

3.  The final step in the HERS process is to provide a Confirmed HERS rating certificate that is given to the town building official as part of the documentation required for a Certificate of Occupancy. As a RESNET Certified Rater, we register your project in the national RESNET database.
